Southwark Council Adopts OpenStreetMap Workflow for Planning Applications

/

Southwark Council has announced a new digital planning workflow built on OpenStreetMap data and the open source Mergin Maps platform, replacing a legacy Esri-based system. The move is expected to save the authority approximately £180,000 annually in software licensing costs. Council planners will use the system to capture site survey data in the field, feeding directly into the authority's Open Planning portal ahead of the forthcoming Planning and Infrastructure Bill requirements.
