The QGIS project has released version 3.38, introducing improved support for IFC-based BIM layer overlays within geospatial workflows. The update allows planning departments to visualise building models directly within QGIS alongside OS MasterMap data. Several UK councils, including Bristol City Council and Leeds City Council, have already begun piloting the feature through their spatial planning teams.
