The UK chapter of OSGeo has announced a free online training programme specifically targeted at planning officers in English district and borough councils, covering QGIS, GeoServer, and OpenLayers. The initiative, funded through a grant from the Open Data Institute, will deliver twelve modular courses beginning in September 2025. Programme coordinators say early registrations have already been received from over forty local planning authorities, reflecting strong demand for alternatives to expensive proprietary GIS tooling.
