NHS Supply Chain has published an internal review citing PostgreSQL 17 performance benchmarks as a key factor in reconsidering its Oracle Database licensing estate, estimated to cost over £4 million annually. The review, conducted with consultancy methods4, concludes that migrating analytical workloads to PostgreSQL and Apache Superset for reporting is technically viable within an 18-month window. A formal procurement exercise for migration services is expected to launch on the Crown Commercial Service Digital Outcomes framework in Q3.
