OpenStreetMap Data Powers New Scottish Flood Risk Planning Tool

/

NatureScot and the Scottish Environment Protection Agency have jointly launched FloodView Scotland, a public-facing planning support tool built on OpenStreetMap data and the open source GeoServer stack. The tool allows planning officers and developers to overlay indicative flood extents against proposed site boundaries during pre-application consultations. The Scottish Government has indicated that FloodView Scotland could be extended to support mandatory flood resilience assessments under the forthcoming Planning (Scotland) Amendment Regulations.
