The OpenBIM Alliance has announced funding support for expanded IFC (Industry Foundation Classes) schema support within the BlenderBIM Add-on, developed by the open source IfcOpenShell project. The investment aims to make the toolset viable for mid-sized UK architectural practices seeking alternatives to Autodesk Revit. Early adopters include London-based practice Haworth Tompkins, which has been trialling the workflow on a social housing scheme in Hackney.
