Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council has completed a phased migration of its core financial management processes to an Apache OFBiz-based platform, replacing a legacy Capita system. The project, delivered in partnership with Midlands-based integrator Civtech Solutions, is projected to save the council approximately £340,000 annually in licensing costs. Council officers have published a detailed case study outlining the 18-month implementation timeline and lessons learned for other local authorities considering similar transitions.
