Cloud-based open source architectural platform OpeningDesign has reported a 40 percent increase in UK registered practices over the past twelve months, as firms seek alternatives to Autodesk Revit amid rising subscription costs. The platform, built on FreeCAD and BlenderBIM components, now supports IFC4 export. London-based practice Haworth Tompkins and Edinburgh firm Konishi Gaffney have both cited cost pressures as the primary driver for evaluation.
