Autodesk Rival FreeCAD 1.0 Gains Traction Among UK Architecture Practices

Following the landmark 1.0 release of FreeCAD, several mid-sized UK architecture practices including Stride Treglown and Levitt Bernstein are reported to be piloting the software for concept modelling and early-stage design work. The new topological naming fix, long a barrier to professional adoption, has been cited as the decisive factor. The UK's Architecture and Design Scotland body has begun exploring FreeCAD as part of its open digital tools guidance programme.
