Surrey County Council has completed a phased migration of its highways asset register onto an open-source stack centred on OpenStreetMap data and a custom PostGIS backend, replacing a legacy Confirm-linked system. The project, delivered in partnership with Informed Solutions, is estimated to save approximately £240,000 annually in licensing costs. Council officers say the move also improves data sharing with neighbouring borough councils under the One Public Estate programme.
