The QGIS project has released version 3.38, introducing significant improvements to 3D map rendering and enhanced temporal animation controls for time-series spatial data. Several UK local authorities, including Leeds City Council and Bristol City Council, have already confirmed plans to migrate from proprietary Esri licences to the new release as part of ongoing cost-reduction programmes. OSGeo UK has welcomed the update and is coordinating a national user day for public sector adopters this autumn.
