The OSGeo-backed QGIS project has released version 3.38, featuring significantly improved LiDAR point cloud processing tools that several UK local planning authorities, including Leeds City Council and Bristol City Council, are already piloting for flood risk mapping. The update also includes native integration with Ordnance Survey's NGD API, streamlining access to authoritative basemap data within open source workflows.
