PostGIS and pgRouting Drive Network Analysis in National Highways Asset Management System

/

National Highways has deployed a new internal road asset management platform built on PostgreSQL, PostGIS, and pgRouting, replacing a proprietary Oracle Spatial system that had been in production since 2009. The project, delivered by Arup's digital engineering team, enables real-time routing and proximity analysis across the Strategic Road Network's 4,500-mile extent. The open source stack reduced infrastructure licensing expenditure by an estimated £2.1 million over a five-year horizon.
