The OSGeo project has released PostGIS 3.5, introducing significant enhancements to 3D topology validation and native point cloud storage via the pgPointCloud extension. The release also improves performance of ST_Intersection operations on large polygon datasets by up to 40 percent according to the project's benchmark suite. Early adopters in the UK include Ordnance Survey's data engineering team, which has been testing 3.5 release candidates for processing LiDAR-derived terrain models.
