The Planning Inspectorate is piloting an open source digital planning stack based on the DLUHC-backed Open Digital Planning project, incorporating the open source Appeal a Planning Decision service prototype. The trial, running across six local planning authorities including Bristol City Council and Leeds City Council, aims to standardise appeal data submission ahead of anticipated legislative changes under the Levelling-up and Regeneration Act. Results are expected to inform a wider national rollout in 2025.
