The OSGeo UK local chapter has launched a structured training initiative aimed at upskilling GIS officers in English district and county councils on PostGIS, the open source spatial database extension for PostgreSQL. The programme, delivered in partnership with Astun Technology, offers six online modules covering spatial queries, raster analysis, and migration from proprietary geodatabases. Over 80 council staff from 34 authorities have enrolled in the inaugural cohort.
