NatureScot and the Scottish Government's Planning and Architecture Division have unveiled a prototype digital planning portal built on open source components including OpenTopoMap, Leaflet.js, and the Overpass API. The tool allows planners and developers to query environmental constraints and topographic data without relying on paid third-party GIS services. A public beta is expected to launch before the end of the 2025–26 financial year.
