The OpenStreetMap Foundation has announced a pilot programme with the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities to explore integrating OSM data into the Planning Data platform at planning.data.gov.uk. The initiative aims to supplement official datasets with community-verified geographic information for green belt boundaries, rights of way, and conservation areas. If successful, the project could reduce reliance on Ordnance Survey licensed data for certain planning use cases.
