A newly released street works coordination prototype built for National Highways uses OpenStreetMap as its base cartography layer, combined with PostGIS and Leaflet.js to visualise permit clashes and lane closures in real time. Developed by open source specialist Wycheproof Digital under a Crown Commercial Service framework contract, the tool is currently in beta across the North West region. National Highways has indicated the codebase will be published under an MIT licence on GitHub following the trial period.
