OpenStreetMap Data Powers New Accessibility Routing Tool for UK Urban Planners

/

Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team contributor group OSM UK has partnered with transport consultancy Arup to release an open source pedestrian accessibility analysis tool built on OpenStreetMap data and the Valhalla routing engine. The tool, named PathwayOS, allows local authority planners to model step-free route coverage and identify gaps in accessible infrastructure across urban areas. Camden Council and Manchester City Council are among the first authorities using the tool ahead of a broader public release on GitHub.
