Shropshire Council has deployed a mobile data collection pipeline using OpenDataKit (ODK) and PostGIS to accelerate its statutory highways asset condition survey, replacing a paper-based process and a commercial mobile forms product. Field operatives use ODK Collect on Android devices to record defect data with geotagged photographs, which feeds directly into a PostGIS database visualised through a QGIS Server instance. The council estimates the new workflow has reduced survey processing time by 60 percent.
