The Open Data Institute has published a new report calling on UK local planning authorities to adopt open standards for publishing land ownership and development data, citing fragmented proprietary formats as a barrier to housing delivery. The report specifically recommends INSPIRE-compliant GeoJSON outputs and references the Planning Data platform operated by the Department for Levelling Up as a positive model. Several metropolitan councils including Greater Manchester Combined Authority are named as early adopters.
