West Yorkshire Combined Authority has reported that its self-hosted Nextcloud deployment, rolled out across 1,200 staff following a review of Microsoft 365 licensing costs, is saving approximately £180,000 per year. The implementation, supported by Sheffield-based open source integrator Prolinux, also incorporates Collabora Online for document editing. The authority cited supply chain resilience and reduced vendor dependency as additional strategic benefits beyond direct cost savings.
