MHCLG Backs Open Digital Planning Project With PostgreSQL and PostGIS at Its Core

The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government has confirmed continued funding for the Open Digital Planning project, with its core data platform built on PostgreSQL and PostGIS to manage spatial planning datasets across participating local planning authorities. The project, which includes Lambeth, Southwark, and Medway councils among its partners, is developing open-source tools to support the new digital planning requirements introduced under the Levelling-up and Regeneration Act 2023. Source code is published under the MIT licence on GitHub.
