Lichfield District Council has completed a migration of its development management system to an open source stack built around OpenPlanning and PostgreSQL, replacing a legacy Idox Uniform installation. The move is expected to save the authority an estimated £180,000 over five years in licensing costs. Council officials have published their implementation notes on GitHub, encouraging other small district councils to replicate the approach.
