Leeds City Council Migrates Planning Portal to OpenStreetMap-Based Infrastructure

/

Leeds City Council has completed a phased migration of its public-facing planning application map viewer from a proprietary Esri stack to a solution built on OpenStreetMap data and the open source Leaflet.js library. The project, delivered by local digital consultancy Informed Solutions, is expected to save the authority approximately £180,000 annually in licensing costs. The council says the new system also improves mobile accessibility for residents submitting and tracking planning applications.
