Homes England has announced a pilot programme exploring open BIM workflows using IFC-compliant file formats and Blender with the BlenderBIM add-on, developed by the open source IfcOpenShell community. The pilot, running across three housing regeneration sites in the West Midlands, aims to reduce vendor lock-in in the government's housing delivery pipeline. Results from the pilot are expected to inform updated BIM requirements in Homes England's development partner contracts.
