Hackney Council has completed a phased migration of its planning case management system to an open source stack built around PostgreSQL and a custom Django front end, replacing a legacy Idox Uniform installation. The move is expected to save the borough approximately £180,000 annually in licensing costs. The council has published its codebase on GitHub and is actively inviting other London boroughs to contribute to the shared repository.
