DLUHC Recommends Open Source Planning Data Tools in New Digital Planning Framework

The Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities has published updated guidance under its Digital Planning Programme explicitly recommending open source tools, including the Planning Data platform built on Python and PostgreSQL, for local planning authorities modernising their data infrastructure. The guidance encourages councils to contribute data back to the national planning.data.gov.uk repository. Several London boroughs, including Southwark and Hackney, are cited as early adopters.
