Bristol City Council has completed a phased migration of its public-facing planning map portal from Esri ArcGIS Online to a self-hosted stack built on QGIS Server, GeoServer, and OpenLayers. The project, delivered in partnership with Astun Technology, is projected to save the authority approximately £180,000 per year in licensing fees. The council has committed to publishing its configuration and deployment scripts under an open licence on GitHub.
