Bristol City Council has gone live with a self-hosted instance of OpenProject to manage its £1.2 billion capital works programme, replacing a patchwork of spreadsheets and a costly proprietary project management platform. The deployment, handled by local digital consultancy Deetu, integrates with the council's existing PostgreSQL-backed asset management system. Officers cited data sovereignty and long-term cost control as primary drivers for selecting the open source solution.
