Global engineering consultancy Arup has announced it is standardising its multi-disciplinary BIM collaboration workflows on an open IFC-based toolkit, centred on the IfcOpenShell Python library and the BIMserver platform. The shift affects project teams across the firm's London, Manchester, and Edinburgh offices and is intended to improve interoperability with public sector clients mandating ISO 19650-compliant open data exchanges. Arup engineers have also committed several upstream improvements to the IfcOpenShell codebase.
