Argyll and Bute Council has completed a phased migration away from Northgate's proprietary revenues and benefits platform, deploying an open source stack centred on OpenRoad and custom PostgreSQL-backed modules developed in partnership with Scottish tech cooperative Squarepoint. The project, which took 18 months to complete, is projected to save the council approximately £340,000 over five years. The Local Government Association has flagged the implementation as a potential model for smaller Scottish and Welsh councils.
