Apache Flink Deployment Cuts Flood Risk Processing Time for Environment Agency

/

The Environment Agency has reported a 70 percent reduction in flood risk model processing times following deployment of an Apache Flink-based data pipeline to replace a batch-processing system built on legacy proprietary software. The implementation, delivered by public sector technology firm dxw in collaboration with the agency's digital team, processes real-time sensor data from over 2,000 river gauging stations across England. The project's code has been published under an MIT licence on the agency's GitHub organisation.
