UK Planning Inspectorate Pilots Open Source Digital Appeals Platform Built on Camunda

The Planning Inspectorate is piloting a new digital case management system for planning appeals, built on the open source Camunda workflow engine. The system, developed with MHCLG funding, aims to reduce average appeal processing times from 36 weeks to under 24. A public beta is expected to launch in Q3 2025, with code released under the MIT licence.
