National Highways has completed a phased rollout of QGIS 3.36 across its asset management teams, replacing a legacy Esri ArcGIS deployment. The move is expected to save an estimated £2.1 million annually in licensing costs. The open source GIS platform will be used to manage spatial data for over 4,700 miles of motorways and major A-roads, with customisation support provided by UK-based consultancy Lutra Consulting.
