The Planning Inspectorate has launched a pilot of a new appeals submission portal developed entirely on open source foundations, using Django, PostgreSQL, and GOV.UK Frontend components. The system, developed under the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities' Digital Planning programme, is being tested with a cohort of 12 local planning authorities across England. If successful, the codebase will be made publicly available via the Open Digital Planning GitHub organisation.
