A new survey by the Water Industry Forum reveals that adoption of PostGIS for spatial asset management has grown by 34 percent among UK water utilities over the past two years. Companies including Severn Trent and Yorkshire Water are deploying PostGIS alongside QGIS to manage pipe network and catchment data, reducing dependence on Esri enterprise licences. The trend is being accelerated by Ofwat's push for greater data transparency and interoperability under its PR24 regulatory framework.
