Highways England has quietly launched an internal infrastructure asset visualisation platform built entirely on open source components, centring on PostGIS for spatial data storage and Apache Superset for dashboarding. The system consolidates asset condition data for over 4,800 miles of strategic road network and replaces a bespoke Oracle-based reporting tool. The architecture was designed by Arup's digital engineering practice and is being reviewed as a potential reference model for other arm's-length government bodies.
