West Yorkshire Combined Authority has completed a phased migration of its strategic planning data infrastructure to a fully open source stack based on PostGIS, GeoServer, and OpenLayers, replacing a legacy Esri ArcGIS Server deployment. The move is expected to save the authority approximately £180,000 annually in licensing costs. The project was delivered in partnership with Informed Solutions and is being cited as a model for other combined authorities considering similar transitions.
