The Planning Inspectorate has begun a six-month trial of a custom digital appeals workflow system built on Camunda's open source Business Process Management engine, developed in partnership with MHCLG's digital team. The pilot aims to reduce average appeal decision times by automating case routing and document validation steps. If successful, the Inspectorate intends to publish the codebase under an MIT licence on GitHub.
