The Planning Inspectorate is evaluating GeoServer as its primary platform for publishing spatial data associated with nationally significant infrastructure project inquiries. A proof-of-concept using the NSIPs portal has demonstrated that GeoServer can serve WMS and WFS layers directly to the public, reducing reliance on Esri ArcGIS Online. A procurement decision is expected before the end of the 2025 financial year.
