UK Planning Inspectorate Evaluates GeoServer for National Appeals Data Platform

/

The Planning Inspectorate is conducting a formal evaluation of GeoServer as the backbone of a proposed open national planning appeals data service, intended to replace a fragmented set of proprietary spatial databases. The initiative aligns with the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities digital planning programme. A proof-of-concept using GeoServer alongside PostGIS is currently being assessed by the Inspectorate's digital team in Bristol.
