The London Borough of Sutton and the London Borough of Merton have jointly deployed a self-hosted Nextcloud instance to replace Microsoft SharePoint for internal document collaboration, following legal advice on data residency obligations under UK GDPR. The shared infrastructure, hosted at a London-based Tier 3 data centre, is managed under a joint ICT agreement and is expected to reduce per-user costs by 40 percent compared to their previous Microsoft 365 configuration.
