Scottish Government Endorses QGIS as Standard GIS Tool Across Public Bodies

/

The Scottish Government's Digital Directorate has issued updated procurement guidance formally endorsing QGIS as the preferred GIS platform for Scottish public bodies, citing total cost of ownership and open standards compliance. The guidance, which applies to agencies including Transport Scotland and NatureScot, recommends migration away from ArcGIS Desktop where operationally feasible. The Scottish Government has also committed to funding a dedicated QGIS support desk through the National Digital Service to assist smaller agencies with the transition.
