Ordnance Survey has announced a formal partnership with OSGeo:UK to promote GeoPackage as a standard open format for spatial data exchange across the UK public sector. The collaboration will produce guidance documents and training resources aimed at planning authorities currently reliant on proprietary shapefile workflows. Initial workshops are scheduled for autumn in Manchester and Edinburgh, targeting local authority GIS teams.
