/

Commonplace and the charity Turing Institute have jointly released an open source street works coordination prototype built on OpenStreetMap and PostGIS, targeting UK highways authorities. The tool aims to reduce duplicate excavations and improve resident notification under the Traffic Management Act. Bristol City Council and Kent County Council are piloting the system ahead of a wider rollout planned for early 2026.
