Homes England has begun a structured trial using OpenStreetMap data feeds integrated with a custom Python-based pipeline to support its National Land Availability Assessment programme. The initiative, developed in partnership with CDDO, aims to reduce dependency on commercially licensed Ordnance Survey datasets for preliminary site identification work. If successful, the approach could be extended to planning authorities under the Levelling-up and Regeneration Act digital infrastructure requirements.
