Homes England has begun a six-month pilot using OpenBIM toolchain components including IfcOpenShell and BlenderBIM to review planning and design submissions from registered providers. The initiative aims to reduce reliance on proprietary Autodesk and Bentley viewers in the approvals workflow. If successful, the agency intends to publish a standardised open BIM review framework for adoption by combined authorities and development corporations across England.
