The FreeCAD project has established a new Built Environment Working Group, with engineering consultancy Arup confirmed as a founding industry participant alongside several European universities. The group will focus on developing native IFC export workflows and improving structural analysis integrations to make FreeCAD a credible open source option for early-stage building design. A first technical roadmap is expected to be published ahead of the Open Source Summit Europe in Vienna later this year.
